Pitching Rotations Set for the World Series

The pitching rotation for the San Francisco Giants has been set and there is a small change.  Manager Bruce Bochy informed the media that Tim Lincecum will be the Game 1 starter. Lincecum is set to face the Texas Rangers ace, Cliff Lee.

For Game 2, Bochy made a change and has moved up Matt Cain. When Cain pitches on Thursday he will have had 8 days rest. Jonathan Sanchez and Madison Bumgarner will round out the rotation.

Assuming there are no changes in the rotation Lincecum would pitch Game 5, Cain would go Game 6, and Sanchez would pitch the final game if necessary.

Ron Washington also released his pitching rotation today and as expected Cliff Lee will start the first game, followed in order by C.J. Wilson, Colby Lewis and Tommy Hunter.

Washington also said that Vladimir Guerrero would start Game 1 in right field and said it is possibly that he could play both games in the outfield.  Guerrero is the Texas Rangers' regular designated hitter and is now considered a defensive liability.  This should be interesting to see him try to manage right field at AT&T Park.
