Former 49er, Thomas Clayton Claimed by Cleveland Browns

In the past, San Francisco 49ers fans have been known to fall in love with players who during the pre-season look good against second and third string teams.  So much so that they start to think that player is better than the current proven starter.  The current love affair is with quarterback Nate Davis whom has not impressed the head coach but has a big fan in offensive coordinator Mike Johnson.

Another former favorite, running back Thomas Clayton, may finally get to show his stuff in the regular season.  The Cleveland Browns have claimed Clayton off waivers from the New England Patriots after waiving for six-round pick James Davis.

Clayton was originally drafted by the 49ers in the sixth-round of the 2007 had a few impressive pre-seasons with the 49ers but was never able to get past the practice squad.  After getting injured in training camp last year he has been bouncing on and off of the Patriots' roster.
