Bruce Gradkowski named starting quarterback of Raiders

Jason Campbell was supposed to be the next Jim Plunkett and was going to bring the Oakland Raiders back from the bottom cellars of the NFL.  That hardly seems likely at this time.  Raiders coach Tom Cable announced that Bruce Gradkowski would be the starting quarterback for this week's contest against the Arizona Cardinals.

Campbell was acquired in the offseason from the Washington Redskins for a 2012 fourth-round pick and at the time it seemed like a good trade.  Most thought Campbell to be a pretty good quarterback who has had Alex Smith type luck with regards to offensive coordinators.

Al Davis even went as far to say that Jason Campbell was the "next Jim Plunkett."

Bruce Gradkowski, meanwhile, has been a fan favorite since the 2009 season where he played in seven games and started four.  In those seven games, he has thrown six touchdowns and three interceptions with a passer rating of 80.6.  In the four games that Gradkowski started for the Raiders in 2009, he went 2-2 and beat the likes of the Cincinnati Bengals and the Pittsburgh Steelers.  If not for an injury, Gradkowski would have been the starter for the rest of the 2009 season.
