The Buccaneers just took a 14-0 lead over the 49ers on a Mike Williams touchdown catch and that TD will likely put a nail in the 49ers coffin. The defensive backs for the 49ers have no ability to stop any of Tampa Bay's average wide receivers. Their best defense, which Shawntae Spencer employed against Williams on the touchdown catch, is to hold the receiver and just take the pass interference penalty.
The 49ers can't get anything going on the offense side of the ball. Troy Smith has thrown for only 95 yards and Frank Gore has rushed for 18 yards on 11 carries. As I said before, the 49ers are running the entire offense through Gore who is the leading rusher and receiver in today's game. Someone ought to tell Singletary that football is a team game.
