Warriors Interested in Steve Kerr as New GM

According to a report on Fanhouse, the new owners of the Golden State Warriors are interested in making former Phoenix Suns GM Steve Kerr their new GM.  The rumor says that current GM Larry Riley would likely be retained but placed in a "supplementary role."

Kerr resigned from the Suns in mid-June and is back in the broadcast booth for TNT.  The interesting part of this is that Joe Lacob's son, Kirk Lacob, was set to go to work for Kerr in the front office in Phoenix until Kerr resigned.  Lucky for Kirk that his dad purchased an NBA franchise so he still managed to get a job.  Joe Lacob has hired his son as the Director of Basketball Operations.

There were many rumors as to why Kerr left the Suns.  Some believed he wanted a pay raise and Suns owner Robert Sarver wanted him to take a pay cut.  Another rumor was that he was looking to give raises to the coaching staff, video crew, and front-office assistants but Sarver wanted no part of that.

Although Kerr did make some mistakes in his tenor as GM of the Suns like the trade for Shaq or the hiring of Terry Porter but so did Chris Mullin in his first year.  Kerr learned a lot and had started to turn the team back around.  He traded Boris Diaw for Jason Richardson and Jared Dudley which has worked out great for the Suns.  He also signed Channing Frye who has been a great pickup for them.  He also drafted Robin Lopez and Goran Dragic which is important when coming to the Warriors because they have an awful record of drafting good players.
